We made yoghurt with camels and cows milk and they smelled and tasted Devine. Way better then store bought. So happy this was the first yoghurt starter Ive ever tried for our first attempt at home made yoghurt.

IMPORTANT: We package and send the yoghurt Starter seperately via Express Post on Monday or Wednesdays, accompanied with ICE (unless you un-select ice).
We encourage you to select ice with this product. If you unselect ice, we will send it without and by processing your order, you accept the product and the condition to which it is received without the option to return your item.
During the hotter months, some customers are concerned that the ice has melted and the product is delivered warm. We make every effort to ensure that the product is kept cool for longer with ice during the express delivery of this item but we do not promise a refrigerated service and the manufacturer has advised and assured us that the yoghurt starter can be left out of the fridge (and without ice) for up to 2 weeks before the culture begins to die so we are confident that the express delivery, ice packed journey will have no or little penetration on the culture quality. Please read our shipping notice and terms and conditions below for this product. Thank you.

Custom Probiotics Yogurt Starter With Live Cultures
Custom Probiotics has formulated two yoghurt starters in powder form. Formula 1 contains L. Bulgaricus, S. Thermophilus and L. Acidophilus, while Formula 2 contains additional two strains B. Lactis and L. Lactis. Both formulas are dairy and casein free, hypoallergenic, and do not contain any artificial colours, flavours, preservatives, sugar, gluten, soy or FOS.
The bacterial count per gram of yoghurt made will be above 100 million per gram, based on various independent lab test results that were performed on yogurts that we have made during our evaluations. The type and amount of microorganisms in yogurt affect lactose digestion and health benefits of yogurt. You can store our yoghurt starters in the refrigerator or freezer. Our yoghurt starters are highly concentrated and hence very little needs to be used. Our yoghurt starters are likely to appeal to health-conscious individuals.
Interesting FACT: When Yoghurt is fermented for over 24 hours, it becomes virtually lactose free and removes the protein casein which GAPS and SCD patients struggle to digest.
FUNCTIONAL PROPERTIES OF YOGHURT
The well-known health benefits of eating yogurt are the following:
- Enhanced lactose digestion
- Stimulation of intestinal immunity
- Improving the balance of microbial population in the intestines
- Improved immunity to disease
- Inhibiting the growth of harmful bacteria. Yogurt’s fermenting agents produce some bacteriocins which, combined with their acidity, prove beneficial for the intestinal flora
- Improving intestinal transit
Yoghurt Making Instructions
1. Prepare one litre of your GAPS milk choice and heat till it reaches 90 degrees C. Please refer to Dr Natasha’s book for the alternative raw recipe instructions (please note the raw version will not create the same viscosity result compared to yoghurt that is brought to boiling point prior to fermentation.
3. Let the milk cool to 38-43 C (before adding the starter yoghurt culture).
4. Add 1/3 of a scoop of the yogurt culture powder per one litre of milk.
5. Mix thoroughly with a spoon or beater until the powder yogurt starter is well dissolved.
6. Fill the resulting cultured milk in a yogurt maker of your choice and incubate at 38-43 C for 12-24 hours. During fermentation, part of the lactose (milk sugar) converts to lactic acid, decreasing the pH values to a range of 4.25 to 4.5. Your yoghurt will virtually be free of lactose and casein if fermented for 24 hours or more (this is recommended for GAPS and SCD).
7. Refrigerate for at least five- six hours.
8. Enjoy and share with friends and family.
