What Is a Castor Oil Pack?

A castor oil pack is an external application of castor oil to the abdomen. A woolen flannel or caster oil wrap is saturated with castor oil and applied to the abdomen with heat applied. Castor Oil packs were first recommended by Edgar Cayce to improve assimilation's, eliminations, and circulation (especially of the lymphatic system) and in particular to breakup adhesion's of the lacteal glands. Dr Natasha Campbell-McBride recommends caster oil packs to assist in the management of fecal compaction and constipation. Although this application may seem unusual, it is well documented as a traditional natural treatment and can be applied comfortably at home. It was also recommended, as part of a holistic approach, for epilepsy, gallstones, scleroderma, chronic constipation, menstrual pain and many other intestinal conditions.
