A Closer look at Seagreens for Iodine
The Food Capsules and food Granules
Seagreens Seaweed Food Granules and Capsules provide a full spectrum of natural food vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, phenols, essential fatty acids, enzymes, trace elements, amino acids, proteins and numerous nutrient compounds including all the rarer nutrients like B12, selenium and zinc, complex micronutrients, and special seaweed carbohydrates which benefit the gut and gut bacteria. An ideal organic balance which cannot be artificially formulated and helps fill the nutrient gaps in all land grown and processed foods, however produced.
Food Capsules are easily taken each morning (preferably with other food) and at other times, preferably earlier in the day.
The content of the Food Granules jar is identical to the content of the Food Capsules - easy to use in fruit juices and smoothies, as well a food ingredient, or just sprinkled on food.
Both provide a full spectrum of natural food vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, phenols, essential fatty acids, enzymes, trace elements, amino acids, proteins and numerous nutrient compounds including all the rarer nutrients like B12, selenium and zinc, complex micronutrients, and special seaweed carbohydrates which benefit the gut and gut bacteria.
An ideal organic balance which cannot be artificially formulated and helps fill the nutrient gaps in all land grown and processed foods, however produced. The choice of these two is your preference of capsules or granules.
+Iodine
Each capsule of +Iodine contains 100% pure Seagreens human food quality seaweed, which in turn typically contains 350 micrograms of natural iodine.
We carefully micronise a single iodine-rich seaweed variety called Ascophyllum nodosum and seal it in a vegetable capsule. We harvest only fresh living plants which then re-grow.
Recent research by Glasgow University compared Seagreens Ascophyllum to an artificial form of potassium iodide. The study found that potassium iodide is highly bioavailable and quickly excreted from the body, whereas Seagreens is more gradually available in the body and remains present for longer periods, with subsequent high levels of iodine being excreted from the body (publication in preparation). Essentially, this research is indicating that the body takes what it needs from a slow release natural source, and removes the rest.
To preserve the minerals, we do not powder our seaweeds; nor do we overheat them: they are air dried as a raw food.
Why is it called Iodine Plus?
The + is that Seagreens is also rich in all the minerals and micronutrients needed for the proper transport and metabolism of iodine including selenium, tyrosine, zinc, copper, vitamins A, B2, B3, B6 and C.
A contrast between the Seagreens seaweed caps or granules compared to +Iodine is that the Seagreens capsules contain a typical 195 micrograms of iodine per capsule where as the +Iodine capsule contains 100% pure Seagreens human food quality seaweed, which in turn typically contains 350 micrograms of natural iodine

When Seagreens introduced these capsules in 2000 at the request of vegan and vegetarian customers who don’t eat meat, eggs or dairy foods (the main sources of iodine) we discovered that we had made the only additive-free, iodine-rich 100% Organic dietary supplement on the market. And as far as we know, it still is!
